Abu Dhabi9 hours

About this experience

A full day in the UAE capital, starting with pickup from your Dubai hotel and a drive of around ninety minutes down the coast. The centrepiece is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, where you go inside: 82 domes of white marble, reflective pools the length of the courtyard, chandeliers set with Swarovski crystal and one of the largest hand-knotted carpets in the world. The tour continues to Yas Island for a photo stop at Ferrari World, and takes in the Corniche and Breakwater, a drive past Emirates Palace and Qasr Al Watan, the Iranian dates and vegetable market, and Heritage Village, a reconstructed oasis settlement facing the skyline. There is also a visit to the BAPS Hindu Mandir, which is closed on Mondays. The lunch stop is at Marina Mall and lunch is at your own cost. Modest dress is required at the mosque - shoulders and knees covered, and a headscarf for women.

Itinerary

  1. 1

Hotel pickup in Dubai and the drive to Abu Dhabi

You are collected from your Dubai hotel in the morning and head south along the coast road towards the capital. The drive takes around ninety minutes, with your guide setting out the history of the Emirates and what the day covers. Transfers are shared, so pickup times are confirmed the day before.

  2. 2

    Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The main stop of the day. The mosque holds tens of thousands of worshippers beneath 82 domes of white marble, with reflective pools running the length of the courtyard, chandeliers set with Swarovski crystal and one of the largest hand-knotted carpets in the world. Modest dress is required: shoulders and knees covered, and a headscarf for women.

  3. 3

Yas Island, the Corniche and Heritage Village

The afternoon covers the rest of the capital: a photo stop at Yas Island for Ferrari World and the Yas Marina Circuit, a drive along the Corniche waterfront, and Heritage Village, a reconstructed oasis settlement facing the skyline that shows how Abu Dhabi lived before the oil era. Free time is given before the return drive to Dubai.
